You'll Feel Right at Home with Sweet Nana's Jamalade!

Hi everyone!
I wanted to introduce you today to another stunning stand at the Grove Street Handmade Market every Wednesday and Saturday. This business, Sweet Nana’s Jamalade will make you feel right at home with its delicacies - Artisanal Fruit Spreads!
I got the opportunity to talk to the founder of Sweet Nana’s who told me that their business began in 2019 and was inspired after a family recipe that their grandma had passed down to them. His mother whom they all dearly called Nana, would make it in the Dominican Republic and ship it to him, his wife, and his two sons in the USA. These recipe’s are a priceless family heirloom and when I stopped by, their stand was full of people raving about their spreads. So much so that a bunch of customers even said they had been ordering Sweet Nana’s jams online and simply wanted to stop by to compliment how good they were. The founder told me, their most famous jams were the papaya and pineapple spreads which are completely natural, however, his personal favorite is the mango one! Each spread has a pineapple base and is healthier (and more delicious!) then the jams you’ll find in your commercial stores. You can put these spreads on anything you want and definitely visit their instagram (linked below) for some inspiration.
All their Jamalades are still made by Nana’s son. He is the founder; his name is Arnaldo Torres. They source their fruit locally as well as from the Dominican Republic!
It was so amazing to learn about what Sweet Nana’s offers and to see the diverse culture of Jersey City represented first hand at the market on Grove Street. You can also try their samples at their stand and though their business has one store in Hackensack right now, we hope to see them expand in the future! I hope you’ll check out their stand the next time you walk by!
Some advice I got from their business was to embrace the learning curves of starting a business and to appreciate all the amazing people you’re gonna meet along the way!
